Trixie

On Wednesday, March 20th, our "head of ranch security", best dog ever, Trixie left us.😢
 She was 14 yrs. old in Feb. And we've had her since she was about 8 weeks old.
She practically trained herself, protected our critters, roled coyotes (literally!) and chased them off.
But these last few weeks leading up to her departure we could tell her time to leave us was at hand.
Her legs weren't working properly anymore, she was uncomfortable...
But now she is no longer in pain, and that gives us comfort in her departure even though we still miss her.

Window Light

So...yeah... I missed last weeks photo challange...it was children. And well... I didn't see any to photograph that week so therefore no photo. :P

But! I did get a picture for this weeks challange which is Window Light.
So I got one, not sure if it's what the challange ment by window light but thats what I got. ;)

The girls and I went up to the Grist Mill yesterday and took some pictures. It was SO sunny and Beautiful this weekend! And warm!! T-shirt weather! :D

Hope your March is going alright, ours is going well so far.

The fort schools are going well, I'm really enjoying them. :)
For 1st year I'm the assistent in the Fur Store Engage part of the program, so get to help teach about the Fur trade, what the guys did and help teach the basics of surveying!
And I found out this last week that next month the teacher for the surveying is unable to attend so the Fur store teacher and I get to teach that part of the class!
Glad I like that class and was paying enough attention I think we can do it no problem! ;)

Snow!!!!

Yesterday we got 4-5" of snow!!! SOOOOO Excited!!!! :D

We woke up to SNOW on Valentines day!! :D
So of course had to go out and take some snow/ice pictures. :)

For my birthday, which was on Monday, mom and dad gave me some lens adapters for my camera!
My favorite of the adapters is the 10x Macro lens attachment.

Weekly Favorite

So.... I kinda didn't do the Joy theme photo challenge.....due to lack of imagination. :/
But! This weeks theme was easy as it is my weekly favorite which means my favorite photo for the week. :)

So here is my favorite photo I took this week:

 And I also took a walk with Kai today and took several fun pictures. :)
We have green things growing now people!!! :D

So this week my "baby" sister turned 17!! She got a camera for her birthday from mom and dad!
Which means..... she won't need to borrow mine anymore!! Yes, I know... it sounds selfish of me... :/
But I'm so happy for her, she can take pictures when I'm out taking pictures and not have to wait to use mine. :)

We have our 2nd day of 2nd-year school at the Fort tomorrow!
Last month was great fun and tomorrow I'm teaching scrimshaw. :)
1st year is going well and so far it looks like we have a bunch of good kids.


Next weeks photo theme is..... sweets! Yes! Easy! Kai! I need you to bake something for me to shoot! ;)
Ok... that sounds bad. ;P

Puppies!!!

I got my camera back last Tuesday!!! The shutter busted and needed to be replaced.
So they fixed it and cleaned it and it's like it's brand new again!!! :D
I'm SO Happy!!!!!!
I found this weekly photo challenge for the year. so I'm gonna try and to it and post weekly of what I got based on the subject given. :)
This week is purple, I haven't figured out what to do yet.......

I got a picture of a puppy Kai was holding and Kai's shirt was kinda a purple color so I think I'll go with that. :P

We took the puppies out to play this afternoon. They are now 5 weeks old! :D

 This song is absolutely beautiful, I can't believe I've only just heard it for the first time this week!

New Year!

The New Year came in amidst lots of fun, games, fire crackers and hanging out with friends. :)
Our friends the Hazens came over to share a taco/taco salad dinner and play games and have fun.
 So after a game of hide and seek in the dark, which is quite fun, we played board games.
We played Catan, which is really fun! Megs won, I didn't do so well, need to strategize where I put my settlements a little more next time. :P
Then we fed the critters and milked the goats, then back to games!
Megs won the short version of Outrage and successfully stole away and escaped with St. Edwards crown!
Played Pictionary, Megs and Matty's team won... (anyone seeing Megs on a pattern here?) ;P
The parents plan was to stay till 9 or 10...... but before they noticed it was 1/2 hr till midnight.
Aha! Yes! Us kids got our wish! ;)

The minutes leading up to 12pm, us kids went outside, ready with firecrackers.
I pretty much didn't have to look at my watch to know when the New Year rolled in, the fireworks going off up and down the valley did that for me!
So we light firecrackers and threw those pop bomb thingy's. (I've actually had those things for 2 years!)

That was a great start to the New Year!

Then "later" after I woke up for the day, I found I woke up with a cold. :/
A week and a half later, I think I'm finally getting over it.
Though it might not be a cold, doctors are calling what most folks think is the cold a sinus flu or something like that and if not taken care of can turn to pneumonia. :/

So, we missed the 1st day of 1st yr. at the Fort.
Those who went said it was a good day though, so I'm looking forward to next month!
Hoping I'm fully over my, whatever it is I have, and can go to 2nd year this Saturday!

We did go down on Tuesday to the fort 'cuz they needed dancers and a musician for OPB who were there for 3 days filming!
I heard it should come out in May, so I'm super excited 'cuz after they were done filming us dancing, they had just Megs, who played the penny whistle for the dancing, stay behind and do close up filming of her playing the whistle! :D

I'd post pictures, but my camera is non-functioning and is currently on its way to CA to hopefully get repaired.. :/
Wait! I took pix on Christmas I could share!

We had snow on Christmas Eve! So we had a White Christmas for the first time in forever!!!

I got some cool ice pictures. :)
