Flowers & Things

Pretty nice this week, rained a little and we had some sun here and there, especially yesterday.
I went out yesterday evening and got some pictures of flowers and things, thought I'd share. :)

Roses & Strawberry blossoms

Saw this dandelion in the sun and liked the effect of the lighting on it. :)
I love weather like this! Dark clouds but the sun is out! :)

That's not snow, its the cottonwood trees seeding! :)

Pretty in the setting sun isn't it?

Today we put the chicken fencing up, now just to fix it so the chickens can't get out by going under the house and make a gate to the outside run. :)
Doesn't it look nice with a door now on and the fence up? :)
Got some more pictures when I took some of the chicken coop
Didn't even see the bug until I took the picture and then looked to see how it turned out!

Night before last I was finally able finished a book I received for my birthday.
It is called "The Shepherd of Bethlehem", part of the Lamplight collection of rare books.
I highly recommend it! It was a great book! Of course all the Lamplighter books are. :)

Hope you all had a great week too!

Farm Life - the not often things we do

Last week and this week we worked on moving an old chicken coup that was in our horses pasture in the woody area, and took it apart and moved it over into our big garden area closer to the house.
Took a full day to take it down and move the pieces, a whole day to re-support the floor, and two half days to put it back together. Way faster and cheaper than building a new chicken coop! And this one has such character! Taking it down, moving it and rebuilding it made me feel like a Barnwood Builder!
Just finished today, except we need more roofing nails to finish up the roof.
I managed to get some pictures of the work with my dad's phone, so thought I'd share. :)
Shed in original location
Kai, Nathaniel and Dad working on detaching the roof
Kai & Nathaniel taking the metal off of the roof frame

Dad re-supporting the flooring

A moth I saw while I was helping put the walls back on the shed

And on Wednesday this week our bull Teddy decided to get out for the third time this month!
So before he got out onto the main road and got hit by a car or decided to go down to the gardens next door and run us up a bill, we decided we needed to put up a better fence then the original barbed wire he decided he could fit through!
Since dad was at work, we called our friends Nathaniel and Isaac, since we knew they have done fencing before, to see if they were available to help us put up the fence. Thankfully they were!
Took us practically all day, but we got that fence up. All 330 some feet of it!!

See the big post at the end waaaaay down there?!

Really enjoyed the unusually warm/hot weather this week, but I'm kinda glad for the cool down and rain for a little break. Wait..... did I just say I'm glad its raining?!?!?! ;)

Ok, I decided to post a few pix to "melt your hearts".
Are they not just the cutest things ever!?!?
No, we didn't get Dachshund puppies, we just saw some and had to pet them.
Poor Kai wasn't there, so didn't get to enjoy their cuteness, she thinks they're only "kinda cute" just because they're "rat dogs". She's prejudice. ;)

Hope you all had a great week!

Misty's 10th Birthday!

Some of you maybe wondering, who is Misty?? Well, Misty is a horse.
We have had her since she was born, and we also owned her dam (mom) and still have her sire (dad) who is 33 years old!
This coming Sunday, April 17th, Misty will turn 10 years old!
She is shared by Kai and I as our horse. She is such a sweet girl.
So for her 10th birthday, I thought I would share pictures of her growing up with you all. :D
Took me a little bit, but I found pictures for every year of her life yet!
Sisters are so great! They helped track down the 2 years I couldn't find! Thanks Girls!
Misty has been such big part of my life these last 10 years. I can't imagine life without her!

Flowers

Well, spring is for sure here in the great North Wet!!
All of our fruit trees are in blossom, and we have lots of flowers coming on!
So I have been taking pictures, and I thought I'd share some of my favorites. :)

Yellow Iris!

Rosemary flower

I liked the look of the rosemary against the rusty fence. :)

Purple Iris with the morning dew on it that I took this morning. :D

The sun coming up through the trees this morning

I love dewdrops on rose leaves!!

I like lots of flowers, but I think my 2 favorite flowers are the Iris and Roses. :)
Hope you are enjoying the great weather this week in our northwestern part of the U.S.
Have a great weekend everyone!!
