Fort Day & More Baby Goats

This past Saturday was the 2nd to last day of 2nd yr. school at the Fort.
This was the first time I have ever gone to a Fort school day by myself.
Megs and Kai were sick, so they didn't go.
It was interesting not having them there, I found myself wondering where they were then remembering they weren't there... 😕

 I took quite a few food pictures as I was stationed in the kitchen to make sure we had boiling water for when the Apothacary's assistant got there to use in melting the wax for the salve.

My last goatie girl had her babies the other night between 10:45-11:30pm!

May so far has been going really well for us.
This Wednesday OPB is doing a preview in the theater of the short documentary that we played in!
My sisters and I are in the dancing. Megs is playing the Whistle! 😄
It will air on OPB May 21st.

Last Day of 1st Yr.

Today was the last day of 1st-year school at Fort Vancouver.
It was a good day! Actually got quite warm out today!

I went in civies and got pictures today.😊

While half the students split into teams to set up the 2 tents, the others played a game called "Rabbit and the Hunter" sorta like "Duck, Duck, Goose"

After tents, they learned how to start a fire using flint & steel

 It was a great day! Everyone had a great time! except for maybe 4 of the boys cutting their fingers while learning to use the flint & steel, thankfully nothing serious.
 Hopefully, we'll still be able to do flint & steel next year!

2nd year is next week! That will be fun as well I'm sure. 😊

Spring Pictures

I can't t beleive today is the last day of April! I mean what?!?! 😲
This coming Saturday is the last day of the Fort School 1st yr class! Ahh!

This weekend we got more drywall texturing done, some more up, and my bedroom floor in! Yay!!
I got to put my bed back together and sleep in it for the first time in 2 1/2 weeks! It was nice. 😊
Now all I need is the trim and to put a "cuff" over the exposed beam on my ceiling, add another to make it look more even then my room is done!

Anyways, I have some pictures of my two newest baby goats that I promised to post and some flower pictures I took some pictures of. 😄

Been super busy this past week!
I doggie/house sitted for my Pastors family, so spending the night, up bright and early to take care of the doggie before heading home to help with morning chores. Then back in the afternoon to take care of the doggie and let them out and hang out with them for a few hours before heading home for dinner, chores then back again for the night.
Last night was the last night as they got back home today. 😊

Been busy in the house as well, got my room painted a very nice shade of blue.
Now to get the new flooring in and a door nob foe my cloest!

Worked on moving and putting up fences the last three days. Thursday and Friday was movable fence panels, so we can move them later if we want to.
Today our friend James came over and helped us put in perminant field fencing along the hillside between our and our neighbors property. Got all 330 feet of it up! Yay!!!
Getting closer to have our property all fenced in so the dogs can't get out!😄

Looks like this weeks weather is going to be in the 70's! I can't wait!
I've got more fence panels to move and put up, so I'm going to be super busy. 😊

Baby Goats Are Here!!

Yes, I know. I haven't' posted in a while... But I have been very busy.
No! Honest! last week was so busy I didn't even get time to practice my Banjo! :/
But it's been a good busy...  My bedroom is bigger!! The sheetrock gets put in tomorrow!
So excited!! :D

So on Monday, my goat had 3 baby girls! So precious!
I got some pictures of them today, they are so cute!

So last time I mentioned that at the next 1st year class I'd be helping the Fur Store Teacher teach surveying on our own without the usual survey teacher.
Well, it went very well I think. :)
We told them a little about surveying history, they learned what their pace was for a 66 ft Gunther chain, and we paced the width and length of the fort and came out with 52.8 and then doing the math that equals 5.28 acres. We got the numbers all right!
We also added compasses to the class, the kids really liked that.
So all in all I think it was our best Fur store class day. :)
 Camp Day next month! They get to learn canvas tent setting up and flint and steel fire starting!

Trixie

On Wednesday, March 20th, our "head of ranch security", best dog ever, Trixie left us.😢
 She was 14 yrs. old in Feb. And we've had her since she was about 8 weeks old.
She practically trained herself, protected our critters, roled coyotes (literally!) and chased them off.
But these last few weeks leading up to her departure we could tell her time to leave us was at hand.
Her legs weren't working properly anymore, she was uncomfortable...
But now she is no longer in pain, and that gives us comfort in her departure even though we still miss her.
